Happy Holidays from your Local 166 Administration!
The Teamsters are working men and women, 1.4 million strong, from across the United States and Canada. We are truck drivers, police officers, public employees, construction workers, teachers, firefighters, nurses, warehousemen and many other professions.
What makes us different? We are organized! Together we have a strong voice to build a better future for our families and ourselves.
Are you satisfied with the status quo? Don't you want better wages, benefits, job security and respect on the job that only a Teamsters contract can bring?
Most employers try to talk workers out of organizing. Why? Because employers know that, with a Union, workers gain power to make their voice heard and the employers must listen.
That is exactly what a Union is all about, having the power to stand up for our families, our future and ourselves. Having a strong, collective voice to stand up to our employers to gain decent working conditions, wages, benefits, job security along with dignity and respect in your place of work.
When we stand alone, we are powerless. Your employer holds all the cards and calls all the shots. By standing together, workers gain a seat at the table and the ability to demand a fair deal for all.
We believe that talk is cheap and that false "promises" can't protect families or jobs. We understand that the only way working people can truly be protected in their jobs and future is by standing together with your co-workers and negotiate a legally binding Union contract.
Had enough of broken promises? Tired of lousy pay and working conditions? Do you want respect in your place of work and security for your family?
Contact us today for a better tomorrow!
When workers come together to form a Union, you get the right to negotiate with your employer over wages, benefits and working conditions.
Regardless of the industry you are in, the process for forming a Union is similar:
Now that there is a Pro Union majority, together you vote through the election process for the Union to represent you and a contract.
Once a Union has been certified or recognized, the employer is required to bargain over your terms and conditions of employment with your Union representative.
Your Rights as Americans are Protected
We have the freedom to organize and form Unions without interference from our employers. When you support forming a Union or engage in Union activities, federal and state law protects you from harassment by your employer.
If your rights are violated, report it to the National Labor Relations Board regional office or Teamsters Local in your area;
U.S. Labor Law says it is illegal for employers to engage in;
All of these acts violate Federal Labor Law and your rights as Americans. Stand up for dignity and respect in your place or work.
Organizing is your right. Secure your future with a Union contract.
